This is the first japanese music in this review list. I'm a big fan of the Japanese music scene and I've been monitoring their Oricon chart frequently to see what kind of music is popular over there.

This soundtrack is from the SKIPBEAT anime. If you haven't heard of it, make sure to check the anime or the manga out. It's one of the most popular shoujo manga out in the market right now.

This single album by the generous is really nice, actually. My favorite track is Dream Star. It will really pump you up for some reason.

One of my favorite soundtracks ever. When I first heard the song, a little pain, I wanted to have a song just like it. I really WANTED to have something like that in my repertoire (I'm a music student, btw).
Anyway, make sure to check the anime and the soundtrack. You won't regret it.

This movie came out when I was just about to start high school. So in a way, I can so relate to the film because it's a story about learning to grow up. It's just too sad to listen to this soundtrack and remember that Brittany Murphy is no longer with us. This movie's soundtrack is among my favorites. The track, Molly Smiles, really makes me weepy like a little school girl. haha. :p

I bet by now you can see some kind of trend in the music I'm posting here. Well, let me just point out that the best songs out there are the ones in shitty films and slapstick comedy. I guess that's their way of compensating the audience for tolerating their crap for an hour or so.

Anyway, I just raised that point for those who are wondering why the hell I'm posting movies from mediocre films / comedies. If you still haven't noticed that crappy films have one of the best movies... then I feel sorry for you.

Okay... moving on, this film's soundtrack is actually quite nice. It's a mixture of the old and the new so it's a great combo. Don't forget to check this film out, too. It's really funny. :)

To tell you honestly,  the whole album is REALLY GOOD (even if the movie was less satisfactory). The only thing that bugged me a bit was that 2 of my favorite songs were covered in the soundtrack... I guess they weren't able to secure the licenses of the songs in time for the OST. Oh well, good thing I have the original albums of the covered ones. If you have time, listen to the original. It's way better than the one in the album. [Transatlanticism (Death Cab for Cutie) and Broken Arrow (Pixie Lott) ]

Penelope's soundtrack is one of the best OST of 2006. The soundtrack is really simple and captures the heart of the whole story of the movie. Check out the notable tracks, most especially Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros. They made an alternate version in the soundtrack.
